I don't think I've ever worked this hard...

Whoever told me that being the Children's Ministry Director would only be 5 hours a week was apparently delusional. Having 2 jobs, going to school, trying to finish my master's essay... leads to panic. (Hence the previous post.) Somehow I've made it through the worst of it - I think. Although it's not going to get a whole lot easier until after October 5. I think I might be able to breathe after that. By the way, I'm writing a paper about Jell-O. It makes everyone laugh - in how many disciplines can you write a paper abotu Jell-O (or something else viewed as utterly unacademic) for your Master's Degree and be respected for it? I love pop history. I'm also hoping that it's going to make me a published author someday. Either that or I'm going to end up with a lot of papers that take up a lot of space on my hard drive.

Science Experiment, part 2

Andy thinks I'm crazy, but it's really hard for me to finish a Snickers bar. I like them, but they sort of overwhelm me. Needless to say, I just finished the bar from the earlier experimental post. In case you were wondering, it remained a high-quality bar. What does this mean? Is it just that there is nothing in the bar to go stale, or is it so full of preservatives that it doesn't matter? I expected the caramel and nougat to harden a little bit once their chocolatey protective shell was penetrated, but no, it remained in tip-top shape. Interesting.

looking for a book?

Sometimes I miss the old card catalog. You know, the one with actual cards? These computerized ones can really have problems. For example, I wanted to do a Boolean search using LUC's catalog, so I typed my search using Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT), and the search returned an error: "Your search generated no hits. Make sure you are not using Boolean operators." Great, I try to do a Boolean search and even that doesn't let you use Boolean operators? And then there's the catalog for work, which randomly provides you with results that you didn't look for. You can click on this great title to take a look at its description and it brings up a completely different book. Why does this happen? I have no idea, but it's really annoying.

I feel special

or something. My Thursday evening class, Oral History, invovles a great deal of group work. One of my classmates from my famous Frances Willard House group, actually switched into my group purposely, stating, "I want to be in Janet's group!" I find this very amusing, since I consider her a much harder worker and a better student than I am. But I guess I made an impression last semester. That and the fact that she already knows I will do my work probably helps. People like me, they really like me! :)
